We have some wonderful music lined up.
This year we are featuring some pieces from Cynthia Dobrinski and Jim Bawden. If you know bells, and if you know our group, those names might already sound familiar!
Cynthia Dobrinski was an amazing composer and arranger who unfortunately passed away in October. More than 175 of her pieces are in print, and she had conducted an estimated 350 handbell workshops during her lifetime. Her music is always a deeply moving experience, both to hear and to play. Her passing is truly a great loss for the handbell community around the world, so we knew that we had to honor her this concert season.
Jim Bawden is a past director of RiverBend Bronze, and we’ll be performing two of his compositions under his direction. Having him back at the baton has definitely felt like a blast from the past for some of us!
Our venues are stunning, too!
Both of our venues are very proud of the stained glass in their sanctuaries – and rightly so! Trinity Lutheran is illuminated by 13 windows from Willard studios witnessing the Trinity, while St. Luke’s United Methodist showcases 108 lustrous windows by the studio of Louis C. Tiffany which were created at the turn of the 20th Century.
So remember:
- April 16 at Trinity Lutheran in Moline
- April 24 at St. Luke’s United Methodist in Dubuque
Our concerts are always free to the public, but we will accept donations. We hope to see you there!
